It is possible to visualize yourself out of a creative block
Train your mind to focus on what you’re doing at the moment. This will directly translate into physical efforts, that will help you work harder and better and perform beyond what you ever thought was possible.
“Once you’ve formed the habit of exercising and discipline, you’ll free up some of the energy for going deeper and starting to master your practice.”
Tim McGraw
There’s a night-and-day difference between when Tim is mentally locked in and giving his all to his fitness regime and when he gets complacent or distracted during his workouts. If he goes through the motions on autopilot, or if his mind is elsewhere, focused not on the physical activity at hand but on the day’s to-do list or something he’s stressed out about, the workout doesn’t have the same effect.
Motion can be done with full or partial engagement. For example, take a Bear Crawl, an animal-flow exercise of moving across the floor semi-inverted on hands and feet to build strength, mobility, and control. Suppose you do it with full attention and engagement from head to toe. In that case, you ‘ll be developing coordination, hip flexibility, shoulder strength, and toning up your mid-back while releasing the tension and compression that builds up in your spine from sitting on your butt too long. With that deeper focus, you improve your crawling skills and your speed across the floor.
You also get a fantastic, massage-style release. However, do it lackluster, and your Bear Crawl becomes a mild cardio exercise that gets you from A to B, and that’s it.
⚡️ Moving your body is a way of being that makes life feel more profound and more richly lived.
Getting older and hopefully wiser shifts your priorities around. You go from wanting to achieve a perfect status to appreciating the process of moving toward your goals. More than a few philosophical writings teach that it’s not reaching the destination that brings joy and satisfaction; it’s working toward it and engaging in the process of learning the lessons to get there, of growing and evolving, and building self-esteem. When you train your mind to go deep, you’ll notice more of what you’re doing as you’re doing it. Get into the process and be awake to how everything feels from the inside out.
